How Should Generator Electrical Isolation, Backfeed and Grounding Risks Be Controlled?

Treat every connected source, transfer path and conductor as part of one electrical system. Observation can support a safe decision, but isolation, testing and corrective work belong to qualified personnel using the approved site procedure.

A stopped engine does not prove that generator terminals, ATS equipment, distribution conductors or control circuits are de-energized. Utility supply, stored energy, automatic-start logic and unintended backfeed must be considered before access or maintenance.
