Probable Causes
Generator Output Does Not Mean Sales, Safety and Visitor-Control Systems Have Recovered
Loads are distributed across common areas, tenant circuits, communications rooms, parking systems, fire protection, security and cold chain. If transfer, a distribution zone or an end circuit does not recover, checkout outages, parking congestion, dark areas or safety-system faults may remain.
Priority Operating Loads Are Distributed
POS, payment networks, fire protection, security, elevators, parking and cold chain may be on different circuits; a fault in any section can affect recovery.
Transfer and Distribution Determine Which Areas Recover

Confirm affected areas, visitor conditions, tenant transactions, and the status of fire protection, security, parking and cold-chain loads.

Separate faults in common circuits, tenant circuits, communications networks and end equipment instead of looking only at the generator.

After service is restored, review the operating recovery sequence and include abnormal zones in the next transfer test.
When an On-Site Inspection Is Required
These Conditions Require On-Site Inspection, Not Remote Observation Alone
- Fire protection, security, elevators, emergency lighting, parking exits or checkout systems across a large tenant area are affected.
- Low-voltage switchboards have tripped, ATS transfer is abnormal, local circuits are without power or visitor-control risk is increasing.
- Remote review cannot confirm the boundary between common and tenant circuits, and continued operation could increase business losses.
Prevention and Maintenance
To Find Problems Before an Outage, Every Inspection Must Be Recorded and Reviewable
Preventive Checks
- Maintain a list of priority operating loads and define recovery priorities for common systems, tenant systems and parking.
- Periodically test the generator, ATS, low-voltage switchboards, communications rooms and priority tenant circuits as an integrated system.
- Before peak-traffic periods, review fuel, alarms, spare parts and the available on-site service window.
Maintenance Routine
- For each test, record whether POS, fire protection, security, parking, cold chain and common-area lighting recovered.
- Recheck priority circuits after tenant changes, event installations or distribution modifications.
- After an outage, record affected areas, recovery times and circuits with recurring abnormalities.
Engineering Recommendation
Shopping center standby-power service cannot stop at asking whether the generator started. It must confirm that sales, safety, visitor-control and tenant systems recovered in priority order.
